Modelling the Human Ear

چکیده

The ear is a very complex shaped object, a result of which is the problem of finding a computer graphics modelling technique suitable to effectively create a realistic ear model. Techniques applied so far consist mainly of manual methods, which generally don’t cope well with the extensive overlapping of the ear and possess minimal scope for generating different ears from an initial model. The aim of this project is to solve this very problem with the use of sweeping and create not only a realistic ear, but also a model with the scope to easily produce wide ranges of different ears to represent the diversity of ear shape of the world’s population. A program has been developed that, to a certain extent, satisfies the above requirements. The level to which this has been achieved and potential improvements are discussed at length.

Effect of sound classification by neural networks in the recognition of human hearing

In this paper, we focus on two basic issues: (a) the classification of sound by neural networks based on frequency and sound intensity parameters (b) evaluating the health of different human ears as compared to of those a healthy person. Sound classification by a specific feed forward neural network with two inputs as frequency and sound intensity and two hidden layers is proposed. This process...

Kinematics and Dynamic Modelling of the Human Shoulder

This paper deals with kinematics and dynamics of the human shoulder in order to obtain the workspace related to the reachability of the wrist and applications to determine load for the wheelchair. The model contains six revolute degrees of freedom (D.O.F), two in costoclavicular and three in the shoulder joint and one in the elbow joint, while a six D.O.F model was developed according to given ...

Design and experimental analysis of a new malleovestibulopexy prosthesis using a finite element model of the human middle ear.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE Many designs of prostheses are available for middle ear surgery. In this study we propose a design for a new prosthesis, which optimises mechanical performance in the human middle ear and improves some deficiencies in the prostheses currently available. Our objective was to design and assess the theoretical acoustic-mechanical behaviour of this new total ossicular rep...

Comparison of the extratympanic electrocochleography in human and rabbit

Electrocochleography (ECoG) records the electrophysiologic activity of the most peripheral part of the auditory system, the inner ear cochlea and the 8th nerve. Auditory evoked potentials being recorded are Cochlear Microphonic (CM) and Summating Potential (AP). In order to provide the proper background for laboratory research and introducing an ECoG curve of a model animal, it was decided to...
